A list is not a plan
When a LighterPack list is not enough
LighterPack is free, and it is a good way to publish a gear list and share a link. Pack Planner does not replace that library. It starts from a trip: nights, a low and a high, rain, water, group size, and whether a canister is required. Then it weighs what you already own against what the trip still needs.
What you are paying for
- Paste a LighterPack-style CSV. Item, category, quantity, weight, unit, worn, and consumable are read.
- Suggestions fill empty roles: shelter, sleep, layers, treatment, navigation, first aid, and the rest of the Ten Essentials.
- A food plan in calories and grams, plus a shopping list, after you unlock the trip.
- Shared gear split across the group, and flags when the bag or the base weight is off.
The category list and the weight summary are free. $15 unlocks one trip. $29 unlocks later trips and saves the gear closet to your checkout email. There is no public profile page here.
Build a listPack Planner is a packing checklist, not a promise that the trip is safe, and not medical advice. Preset elevations and food-storage notes are planning figures. Confirm permits, fire restrictions, and current regulations with the land manager. Water sources change.
